The candle snuffer should be used as an additional safety measure against your own forgetfulness - not to reduce your vigilance. Never leave burning candles unattended.
Install the candle snuffer by folding out the cover and sliding it down from above. When installed correctly, the lid should not lean towards the light but stand straight out. The candle is automatically extinguished when it has burned down to the level of the candle snuffer.
